Yes. A free key (sk_free_*) comes with a one-time grant of 300 tokens: 1 token = 1 second of audio, so you can build and test against the live API before you pay a cent.
How do I authenticate?
Send your key as an HTTP Bearer token: Authorization: Bearer <your_key>. Keys are validated on every request. Full auth details are in the docs.
What can a free key do vs a paid key?
A free key (sk_free_*) works against the live chat API. The bulk batch API is paid-only. Free keys get a clear 403 by design. Upgrade to a paid key (scar_live_*) self-serve to unlock batch.
How much does a paid key cost?
You pay per second of audio, $0.10 per minute, from prepaid tokens (1 token = 1 second). Top-ups start at $10. No subscription, no seat license.
Do I have to talk to sales?
No. Both the free key and the paid upgrade are fully self-serve. Sales is only there if you want enterprise volume pricing or an SLA.
